Marketing consultant in action

“If I can help a company shift how they think, I can shift how they grow.”

One of the oldest tropes in hiring (whether it’s an employee or a consultant) is to describe yourself in three words. For GrowthShift, our three words are: Make a difference.

Making a difference empowers our clients — B2B tech companies — to understand their unique market position, and the opportunity it provides to connect with their customers.

Every step of the GrowthShift journey has been defined by relying on change to deliver an impact. Change is who we are and how we make a difference every day.

Tell Your Story

Can you tell prospective clients your company’s story? You might be surprised by how many founders and CEOs can’t.

We tell founders if they can’t clearly articulate their brand story, they’re not connecting with customers. Your business story won’t be real to the customers you’re trying to inspire, or to the investors and employees who need to embrace your vision to help your become a success.

GrowthShift makes a difference by empowering B2B companies to understand their unique market position and their opportunity to connect with customers.

The GrowthShift difference starts with unpacking our own story: my team and I realized the consistent GrowthShift theme of making a difference is by helping people think critically.  It’s what we do every day, and we love it.

Change is Power

Inherent in our mission to make a difference is making a change. Thinking differently. Being disruptive. Connecting with people.
Our focus, and one of our core values, is to keep people at the center.

People make change happen. We help you build those trusted relationships beforehand, so that every customer, employee, investor, and partner stays with you long term.

Candidly, no one gets everything right, every time. Every GrowthShift team member and client has faced setbacks and challenges. But we embrace them, because change is how we learn too.

People are the catalyst for change and growth. I’ve made mistakes in leading teams, in the spirit of innovation and progress. That’s okay, and it’s okay if you do too. What’s important, and what we do at GrowthShift, is make sure we learn from every action and use those opportunities to improve and empower people and teams.

25 Years of Leading B2B Tech Startups

I’ve worked with startups for more than 25 years and have seen many encounter — and fail — at one of the biggest organizational challenges: adapting quickly and remaining flexible while still relevant to their market.

Again, that word: Change.

Sadly, many startups have a Ready, Shoot, Aim approach: they jump right into execution and revenue generation before they have a solid positioning and marketing strategy. They’re aiming at the goal without a plan to get there — and without an understanding of the strategy it takes to shift a market or customers’ perceptions.

The business model breaks if you jump too early. GrowthShift makes a difference for these B2B tech companies before they reach that failure point. Positioning and marketing strategy is where we help the most with your highest leverage point for growth.

We get it: You’re constantly under pressure to create revenue.

Let us make a difference with your organization by giving you the ‘long view" early, translating into a sustainable and efficient growth strategy.

We help you plot and maintain a meaningful, defensible, and relevant five-year course. These strategies are designed to uniquely position you in your market and connect with your customers.

Long-term thinking is crucial to startup success, preventing unnecessary pivots when the strategy or message doesn’t hold under scrutiny or deliver results. When early-stage companies pivot their message and model, they begin eroding customer trust — the downfall of any business, but especially tech startups.

Our Target = Our Passion

Establishing markets and brands requires connecting with people, and empowering those people to implement change.

People at the center. It is one of our core values.

I served as a marketing and business leader across a wide range of industries, from energy and airlines to big-tech firms gobbled up by SAP. I started as an analyst, looking at the ways companies ran and understanding the data to help them improve.

But the analyst role wasn’t enough: I wasn’t satisfied hiding behind a desk or numbers.  Instead, I opted for hands-on work with the people who could create a positive impact.

Eventually I gravitated to early-stage tech companies where he realized he could make the most significant difference.

My lifelong passion for making that positive difference has endured decades and he brings that to life each day.

“If I can help a company shift how they think, I can shift how they grow.”

With that one thought, GrowthShift was born. It’s been an amazing journey full of change, and we hope you’ll consider joining us for what’s next.
